What Are Open Pores?

So the first question is- what are those pores on your skin? Well, in simple words, pores are holes in your skin from where hairs appear. And the roots of these forces are connected to sebaceous glands that continuously produce sebum.

When these pore gets filled with sebum, makeup, and skin care, it gets clogged. And these clogged pores get bigger.

Another cause of large pores can be the reduction n of collagen. So with age, your skin loses its capacity to produce collagen, and that causes your skin to lose elasticity, and thus, your pores become loose and wider.

Fact:-

Pores are not muscles. And hence, they cannot increase or decrease in size. So if you use cold water to wash your face, be alerted. Rather than reducing the size of your pores, you are making things difficult. The cold water hardens the sebum making it hard to remove it.

Also, sudden changes in the temperature of your skin can even further lead to more open pores.

Importance Of Double Cleansing

Cleansing your face with an oil cleanser, and then a foam cleanser is significant. It helps remove all those leftovers of makeup, pollutants, germs,s, and sunscreen residue from your skin.

While you may think that only foam cleanser is enough to remove all those, this is not the reality. You need an oil cleanser to remove dirt from your face. Even if you don’t apply makeup daily and apply only sunscreen, then oil cleansers are important.

How To Double Cleanse Effectively?

First, apply a few drops of oil cleanser on your palms evenly on your face. Then massage gently all over the face focusing on wider areas first, followed by smaller areas.

You have to massage gently for 5 to 10 minutes in a circular motion to ensure all the makeup and sunscreen are dissolved.

And don’t worry if you start looking like a ghost. Because if you are looking like a ghost while using an oil cleanser, it means it is working right.

The second most crucial step is to emulsify the oil cleanser. It is a step where water meets oil. If you do not adequately emulsify the oil cleanser, the oil will get trapped in your pores and may cause break out and other skin concerns.

Take water on your palms. And in a circular motion massage it gently till the oil turns white.

And once it is done, you should wash your face and move on to the next process.

Take a few pumps of your foam cleanser on your hands and make foam from it. You can use a foam-making machine for the same purpose.

Now after making the foam, apply it evenly on your skin and massage gently. You can even use a cleansing device to clean your face properly. And then wash.

Now, you have successfully removed all the makeup and sunscreen residue from your face. If you follow these steps daily, we assure you that you will never face the issues of clogged pores ever again. You will also see less frequent acne breaks out, blackheads, and whiteheads.

Physical exfoliator includes scrubs, clay masks, gommage peeling gel, etc. As the name suggests, they physically remove their skin cells from your face.

Let’s talk about them one by one.

Scrubs

Scrubs are the most popular skincare products when it comes to exfoliation. They are made up of grains of sugar or ground nuts and are effective to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin.

You should use this on a wet face. Take a few drops of scrub in your hands and rub them in your palms before applying them on your face. Spread it evenly on your face for 5 to 10 minutes, and massage it gently before washing it off.

Don’t be rough or aggressive while using a scrub, as it can damage your skin. It can also irritate your skin. And it will not help you get rid of enlarged pores but will further increase the production of sebum, causing visible large pores.

Tip:-

You can use small grains of scrub if you have oily skin and large grains if you have dry skin.

Clay Mask

Clay masks are also effective to remove oil and dirt from your pores. You should try out volcanic ash, green tea, or brown sugar clay masks. And if you have oily skin, then don’t skip this step. It will help you in multiple ways.

Chemical Exfoliators

Chemical exploiters include AHA, BHA, PHA, and LHA. They are excellent ways to remove dirt and dead skin cells from your pores without damaging your skin barrier.

AHA and PHA are water-soluble acids and work only on the surface. They can help you achieve smoother skin. And get rid of those pesky bumps. There is not much difference between them. The only difference is that PHA is a gentler version of AHA.

Similarly, BHA and LHA are fat-soluble acids and penetrate deeper into the skin to dissolve sebum and dirt from pores. Like PHA, LHA is gentle versions of BHA.

Sheet mask

Another important thing you should pay attention to avoid open pores is your skin temperature. Every day our skin is exposed to a variation of temperature that is not good for its health.

We often regulate our body temperature by changing the type of clothes we wear. What do we do for our faces? Nothing, right? But your face suffers from more heat variation than the rest of the body.

Ideally, the face temperature should be around 31 to 32 Celsius. But every day, the face has to face different variations of temperature. Any sudden change can irritate your skin, causing sebaceous glands to produce more sebum.

High temperature irritates the skin and leads to an increase in sebum production. And this often leads to frequent breakouts and reduces skin elasticity.

On the other hand, low temperature decreases blood circulation, causing dead skin cells to pile up on the skin. It also makes your skin sensitive.

So what should you do to regulate your skin temperature? You can do so following different things.

First, never apply ice directly on your face as it can lead to a sudden drop in temperature on your face. Apply cold water slowly on your face so that the reduction in the temperature is not too sudden.

Also, if you are coming straight from the sun and your skin is too heated up, avoid going directly to the AC room. Instead, take a towel, wet it with some cold water, and apply it to your face first to reduce the temperature.

You can also regulate your skin temperature by using a sheet mask. Put it in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes before applying it to your skin. You should look for skin-soothing and calming ingredients for your face.

Tip:-

Also, use a sheet mass that is breathable and eco-friendly.

You can also use a modeling clay mask for the same purpose. Mix modeling clay masks and water in a 1:1 ratio and apply it on your skin evenly. Let it dry and see it wash off. And you will see moisturized and glowing skin immediately.

Tip:-

You can use rose water instead of water to increase the benefits of the modeling clay mask.

Final Words

Lalty, as it is said, prevention is better than cure, you should focus on preventing sebum and other residues trapped in your pores. For this, cleanser effectively every day. Never go to bed with makeup on. Even when you feel lazy, double cleanse. Also, moisturize and exfoliate regularly.

Also, pamper your skin weekly with sheet masks, LED masks, and modeling clay masks. These extra steps towards loving your skin would never go in vain. Keep following these steps to get rid of enlarged pores on your face, and you will see visible results in a few weeks.
